In general, four-phase parallel into two-phase use, the motor has a better acceleration performance, high-speed torque to maintain good, but the motor current will be two times the four-phase, heat, the driver output capacity requirements correspondingly increased; and four-phase series into two-phase use, the motor has better low-speed stability, noise and heat less, the driver requirements are not high, but the high-speed torque loss is larger.

Two-phase stepper motor and four-phase stepper motor differences, some companies have all the drive two-phase design, four-phase stepper motor must be reconnected to two-phase to use. So these companies often have to ask customers, hope that the motor connected in series or in parallel. In the past, when the 8-wire stepper motor is marked as four-phase, customers will naturally think that four-phase motor and two-phase drive does not match, so many companies simply four-phase stepper motor and two-phase stepper motor are marked as two-phase.
